The JOURNEY TO MY DESIGNS…

Creating is one of my greatest passions.  You could say that my spirit animal is a hummingbird, whose whirling curiosity has not limited me to only one creative medium.

As a child, most of my toys were handmade with the innovative help of my father

Inspiration grew from seeing this self-taught artist experiment on canvasses and landing freelance jobs painting images and letterings on retail store fronts where I often helped as his assistant.  He also had an affection for plants ranging from seed collecting, planting, harvesting and drying leaves for medicinal purposes to designing inviting garden spaces that lent themselves to a delightful experience.

CREATIVITY WAS ABUNDANT IN OUR FAMILY

My mother and aunt did not fall short on my list of creative teachers. My mother had a passion for cooking, reading, and writing poetry, and my aunt whom I spent countless summers with taught me hands on arts and crafts as well as cake baking and decorating.

I EXPANDED MY CREATIVITY TO BE MULTIDISCIPLINARY, THROUGH ALL FIVE SENSES

My creative quest landed me in theatre arts where I learned about the humanity & psychology of characters as well as costume, lighting and set design.  I deepened my design knowledge when I studied design specializing in Biophilic Interior & Commercial Design. This allowed me to make sense of how I and others perceive our surroundings through our five senses.

rECONNECTING WITH MY ROOTS

Following in the footsteps of my grandfather, a 3rd generation herbalist, I have also enjoyed life as a Certified Reiki Master Educator/Practitioner and as a certified total well-being coach specializing in ayurvedic practices, meditation and transformational wholistic healing from the inside out.

integration into a new path

All these steppingstones led me to this newfound path of jewelry design. Through my ayurvedic practices I learned of the ideas about the existence of life energy and marma points (vital points of life energy) within our body that date roughly to 2 B.C.

CREATING INTENTIONAL SPACES

My love for creating intentional personal spaces throughout my home led me to design a classic timeless milk-like glaze ceramic flower vessel; a collection of handmade nichos, spiritual in nature; and abstract paintings that denote a common theme of the lotus emerging from muddy waters in search of the welcoming light of a new day.

My hope is that these collections will help you create intimate spaces throughout your home offering moments of reflection and self-care.

The intention behind THE brand

Each of my designs, which carry my last name, Esquivel (ess-kee-vell), is born with the intention to connect and heal humanity.  A selected mantra is chanted 108 times prior to each piece being created – representing the 108 marma points within our body.

esquivel JEWELEY IS MEANT TO AID YOU ON YOUR PATH TO YOUR AUTHETIC SELF

Each chant represents a journey from our material self towards our highest spiritual self.  Each chant is believed to bring us one unit closer to our god within.

While some pieces will be close in appearance, no pieces are ever duplicated as I allow the flow of this energy to guide my creative process with the intention that each piece will find its way to the person who is meant to enjoy it.
