Reiki Healing
What is Reiki?
The word “REIKI” comes from the Japanese and means universal life force energy. Some practitioners describe Reiki as acupuncture without the needles. Reiki assists the body in healing itself and is totally natural and “wholistic”. It also balances the body’s energies, thus bringing body, mind and spirit into proper alignment. The application of Reiki begins a process of self-transformation and enlightenment. I use Reiki along with transformational coaching techniques to promote a “wholing” process which births physical, emotional and mental health.
How does a Reiki session go?
I can practice Reiki on a client remotely or in person, always and only with the client’s permission. Reiki is practiced with a gentle touch; however, it can be done completely hands-off for those clients who might not like touch.
A session is approximately 50 minutes. During a session you may experience the Reiki energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling or pulsing where I place my hands. Some clients feel sensations moving throughout the body while others may not.
Each session begins with an acknowledgement and reverence - “Thank you, Spirit, for guiding me to Reiki. Thank you, Master Usui, for developing the system of Reiki from which my practice originated.”
During an in-person Reiki session, I gently move my hands above or on the client’s clothed body in a series of hand positions. Each hand position is held for around 3 to 10 minutes, or depending on the client’s needs, and I typically focus on or around the head and shoulders, stomach, and feet. Most clients experience changes after three sessions.
I apply the same principles for a distance healing Reiki session. Through visualization, I try to move my clients’ bodies out of “fight or flight” and into “rest and restore” mode. This sets their body up for continued healing on its own. A follow up consultation proceeds as previously determined by both of us.
Because energy is not bound to time and space, distance healing Reiki is just as effective as an in-person Reiki session.
Why to book Reiki with Our Vida:
I was initiated and trained into the Usui Shiko Royho Tera-Mai Method as a Reiki Master- Teacher Practitioner, July 21, 1996. What initially drew me to Reiki was the desire to be able to use transformational light energy to help deal with and heal my chronic back pain that had resulted from an exercise injury.
Drawing on my heritage of alternative, plant-based healing, Reiki helped me assist my body in healing itself naturally and wholistically. Over the years Reiki has taught me to develop an intuitive and physiological awareness of energetic blockages in my bodymind which can lead to illness and disease.
My continued love and motivation for practicing Reiki comes from being able to provide my clients with improved flow of energy around their bodies, enabling relaxation, relieving pain, speeding healing, and helping reduce other symptoms of illness whenever they appear.
What makes my sessions “wholistic” is the combination of energy work and transformational coaching techniques to help my clients achieve optimal spiritual healing from the inside out.
More about Reiki:
The origin of Reiki dates back 10,000 years into the ancient history of Japan, Egypt and China/Tibet. It was used in India, China and Japan, and came to us through Dr. Mikao Usui who rediscovered it in 1922.
People of all faiths, religions, ideologies and philosophies can use this Reiki energy. This energy transcends the personality (personal aspect); thus, it cannot be influenced by human feelings, beliefs or emotions.
